Apple Watch Series 6

The watch is complemented with many features and functions revolving around health, such as the blood oxygen measurement, and the electrocardiogram (ECG) and many more. Mentioned by Andrew, “The Series 6 has a new sensor on the back that measures the oxygen saturation of your blood, known as SpO2.” This function will only work if you stay still for fifteen seconds while the watch does the measurement. All these functions work hand in hand with the S6 processor that is unique to the series 6. “The Series 6 has Apple’s latest S6 chip, which is fast, fluid and beats even the best performance from rival smartwatch makers” (Samuel, 2020). The watch is almost unrivalled in terms of their performance and functionality. These functionalities prove that the apple watch series 6 stands out from fellow competitors in terms of the processing power and features.
One of the reasons that Apple watches are so popular compared to their fellow competitors is due to its extensive functions and excellent ecosystem if you have an iPhone. The watch handles notifications, calls, texts and replies without having the need to look at the phone. “The tight integration between the Apple Watch and phone is better than any other smartwatch with an iPhone, Apple Pay and Siri included (Samuel, 2020).” Apple recently introduced the new family setup, “ users who may not have an iPhone now are able to use Apple Watch by setting up the watch with someone else's iPhone (Andrew,2020).” This is an excellent feature for parents who want to stay connected with their loved ones. When the watch is done with the setup, it is able to work as a stand-alone device, this allows parents to purchase it for their kids who aren’t old enough to have their own phones while still be able to stay connected.
The battery life of the series 6, “Battery life is solid if not class leading (Samuel,2020).” MacRumors(n.d) mentioned that the series 6 offers an eighteen hour battery life. The series 6 is able to receive a full charge in less than ninety minutes with a standard power adapter that supplies two amps. On average these batteries last up to five hundred full charge cycles, maintaining nothing below eighty percentage capacity. Secondly, new sensors such as the built in compass app, it allows the user to see details such as latitude, longitude. This brings to the next point where the watch also includes a built in always on barometric altimeter that keeps track of elevation gains when flights of stairs are climb, hiking, and many more in realtime.
The series 6 features “an OLED ultra low power temperature poly-silicon and oxide display (LTPO) to enable an Always-On Retina display (MacRumors Staff, 2020).” This particular feature allows users to see notifications, time, workout details, and many more without having the need to tap on the watch. It also has up to two and a half times brighter display, it allows a brighter display even under sunlight. This very display also has a variable refresh rate that helps the watch conserve battery by lowering its refresh rates to as low as 1hz when the watch is inactive.
In conclusion, the apple watch series 6 has proved its worth in terms of the functionalities and processing power. It emerged as the top smartwatch amongst its other competitors, unrivalled. When paired with the iPhone, it brings connectivity to a whole new level, seamless connections between family members and health features offered right at your wrist.
