Apple Watch Series 6
In the article, Apple Watch: Take 6, “mentioned that this is arguably the most exciting Apple watch yet” (O’Hara,2020). The watch is complemented with many features and functions revolving around health, such as the blood oxygen measurement, and the electrocardiogram (ECG) and many more. It features a new sensor known as the Sp02, it is located at the back of the watch which measures the oxygen saturation. “The Series 6 has Apple’s latest S6 chip, which is fast, fluid and beats even the best performance from rival smartwatch makers” (Samuel, 2020). The watch is almost unrivalled in terms of their performance and functionality. These functionalities prove that the Apple watch series 6 stands out from competitors in terms of the integration, family setup, battery life and the display.
Apple watches are so popular compared to fellow competitors due to its extensive functions and excellent ecosystem integrated with the iPhone. The watch handles notifications, calls, texts and replies without needing to look at the phone. “The tight integration between the Apple Watch and phone is better than any other smartwatch with an iPhone, Apple Pay and Siri included (Samuel, 2020).” Apple recently introduced the new family setup, “users who may not have an iPhone now are able to use Apple Watch by setting up the watch with someone else's iPhone (Andrew,2020).” This is an excellent feature for parents who want to stay connected with their loved ones. When the watch is done with the setup, it can as a stand-alone device, bringing connectivity to parents and kids.
“Battery life is solid if not class-leading (Samuel,2020).” The Apple watch series 6 offers an eighteen-hour battery life(MacRumors, 2020). The Apple watch series 6 receives a full charge in less than ninety minutes with a standard power adapter that supplies two amps. On average these batteries last up to five hundred full charge cycles, maintaining nothing below eighty percent capacity. Secondly, new sensors such as the built-in compass app, allows the user to see details such as latitude, longitude. This brings to the next point where the watch also includes a built in always on barometric altimeter that keeps track of elevation gains when flights of stairs are climb, hiking, and many more in realtime.
The Apple watch series 6 features “an OLED ultra low power temperature poly-silicon and oxide display (LTPO) to enable an Always-On Retina display” (MacRumors, 2020). It allows users to see notifications, time, workout details, and many more without needing to tap on the watch, like the previous series of Apple watches. It also has up to two and a half times brighter display even under sunlight. This very display also has a variable refresh rate that helps the watch conserve battery by lowering its refresh rates to as low as 1hz when the watch is inactive.
In conclusion, the apple watch series 6 has proved its worth in terms of the functionalities and processing power. It emerged as the top smartwatch amongst its other competitors, unrivalled. When paired with the iPhone, it brings connectivity to a whole new level, seamless connections between family members and health features offered right at the wrist.
